Benson Justice of the Peace Joe Knoblock was recently named the Associate Presiding Justice of the Peace for Cochise County.

Knoblock, now serving his second term, will serve under Judge Tim Dickerson, who was named presiding Justice of the Peace. Dickerson will hold the lead position, and Knoblock will act as the associate presiding for two years.

Knoblock was also recently elected vice president of the Arizona Justice of the Peace Association.

The association promotes the highest standards in professionalism while protecting the interest of the independence of the Justice of the Peace courts in Arizona.

Knoblock was first appointed to the bench in 2006 by the Cochise County Board of Supervisors to fill a vacant position, and he was later elected to serve a four-year term.

In conjunction with serving as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, he is also the Benson city magistrate, after being appointed by the City Council in 2006.

In addition to his duties in Benson, Knoblock was elected to the Board of Directors of the Arizona Magistrate Association in 2008, and in April he was appointed to serve as a member of the Cochise County Judicial Merit Committee.

The committee handles grievances and appeals under the rules of the judicial system.

For the third year in a row, Knoblock was also invited to attend the Arizona Judicial Administrative Leadership Program, which is designed to bring leaders of the Arizona court system together to focus on upcoming initiatives, problems facing the local courts and how to improve upon the Arizona court system.
