San Pedro Valley High School recognizes new graduates

San Pedro Valley High School recognized its graduates during the semi-annual Graduation Ceremony & Recognition Night on Dec. 18, at Cochise College's Benson Center.

The Keynote address was delivered by Superintendent of Benson Schools, Dr. David Woodall. Other speakers included Sepp Sprietsma (Benson's Safe Schools Officer) and Desiree Taylor (graduating student speaker). The Master of Ceremony was San Pedro Valley High School's Principal Angela Carreira. Eight students graduated and were awarded their diplomas from Benson School Board President, Frank Maldonado, and board members, Robert Bernal and Kelly Johnson.

Graduating students were: Allison Christiansen, Colton Dixon, Britney Gregory, Steven Martinez, Samantha Moore, Barbara Powell, Desiree Taylor, and Jolynn Taylor.

Other students were recognized for outstanding attendance and achievement: Josh Hayes and Stephanie Clayton (Exemplary Attendance); Amy Logan (Perfect Attendance); Remi Ballesteros, Kyle Johnston, Maelia Kroll and Gabrielle Smith (Honor Roll); and Gabrielle Smith, Steven Martinez, Tim Kilpatrick and Maelia Kroll (Students of the Month).

Approximately 125 people attended the event. The ceremony included a graduates' slideshow, music, and refreshments.

San Pedro Valley High School is located at 197 E. 7th St. in Benson, and is an alternative and fully accredited high school sponsored by the Benson School District. For more information call 586-8901.
