Neil and Marguerite Carruthers
The children of Neil H. and Marguerite C. (Fenn) Carruthers are pleased to announce their parent's 60th wedding anniversary.
Neil was born in Pomona, Calif. and Marguerite was born in Mesa, Ariz. Neil proudly served in the Navy during WWII (1944-1946) and also served in the Mexico Mission (1946-1949) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After serving his mission, he attended Brigham Young University, where he met the love of his life, Marguerite Fenn. They were married Sept. 5, 1950, in the St. George, Utah Temple.
They settled in Southern California and raised their five children: Helen Bigelow, Spencer (Sandy), Jenice Tyrrel (Dan), Alward and Mesia Curtis (Kendall). While raising their family, Neil and Marguerite worked in the grocery industry. After their children left the nest and they retired, they moved to Benson, Ariz. to be close to Marguerite's family. Refusing to stay in the easy chair, Neil sought employment with the Benson School District and drove many students to and from school in his bright yellow bus.
They both have served in many leadership positions in their Church and have a love for Family History. They have served two missions together: Orkney Islands, Scotland (1992-1993) and London, England 1998-2000), and love serving their fellowman.
They are the proud parents of five children, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren with one great-grandbaby and one great-great-grandbaby on their way.
A celebration will be held in their honor in November in Pomerene, Ariz.
